Pocket Device Setup
If you are using a Windows Mobile pocket device, then this program will need to be installed. ActiveSync and Windows Mobile Device Center are used by Windows Mobile powered devices to transfer information, settings, and files. Synchronization is handled with different applications for Windows Vista and Windows XP or earlier, so please check which operating system your PC is running and choose the appropriate option listed below.
PCs Running Windows XP or earlier:
If your PC is running Windows XP, or earlier, your synchronization settings will be managed through Microsoft ActiveSync. Click the link to Install Microsoft Active Sync.
PCs Running Windows Vista:
If your PC is running Windows Vista, your synchronization settings will be managed through the Windows Mobile Device Center. Click the link to Install Windows Mobile Device Center.
ChargeTracker Mobile is the application that will need to be installed on the mobile device. Once the ChargeTracker Mobile Feature Pack has been installed (from the Updates tab located on the Administration tab, under the link to View or Install Modules or Kits), the mobile application will be available to install on the device.
Browse to the CareTracker URL using Internet Explorer on the pocket device, i.e., http://caretracker/kiosk. If not previously done, install the required framework using the setup button displayed. Then install the ChargeTracker Mobile software using the provided installation button. Once installed, the ChargeTracker Mobile software will need to be updated on the device to be directed to the correct URL, if the default http://caretracker/kiosk is not the URL used by the facility. The setup for this URL can be accessed by clicking Menu and then Options from the ChargeTracker mobile application main screen.
Note: Items marked as "Not in use" on the item's stock level tab will not be displayed on the mobile device.
Palm Pilot / Visor Setup
Click the Install Hotsync link to install the Hotsync application.
Hotsync is the program that directly communicates with your Palm-Pilot device. Hotsync is installed during the Palm Desktop software installation process. We recommend using Hotsync 3.1 or higher. If you do not intend on synchronizing your Palm-Pilot, or you do not have a Palm-Pilot then you do NOT have to install this program.
Note: If you already have the Palm Desktop 4.0 on CD, then the installation can be done from CD.
Enterprise Sync is a program that communicates with Hotsync to update data in ChargeTracker. In order to synchronize with ChargeTracker, this program must be installed.
The Sync installation checks for the existence of the 1.1 framework as well as the Palm Synchronization software. If both of these items are located on the client machine then the installation goes forward.
The user is asked to provide the URL of the site they want to synchronize with, i.e. http://caretracker. If this URL is not provided, the install can still continue, however, the palm cannot synchronize until this value is provided. If the URL is not provided at install time, this will have to be set within the sync application, which can be accessed by locating the Enterprise Sync icon in the system tray, right-click the icon and click About. The full URL will need to be entered into the box labeled “Interface URL” located at the bottom of the About screen (i.e. http://servername/eis/eis.asmx). When the URL is entered during installation, the /eis/eis.asmx portion of this URL is added automatically.
It can also be set by editing the SynchConfig.xml file in the application folder, however, this is not the preferred way of editing settings.
To Install Palm Tracker Software
Palm Tracker software is the software that works directly on the device to capture information for later synchronization with ChargeTracker.
Note: Items marked as "Not in use" on the item's stock level tab will not be displayed on the palm.
